MICA Project Volunteers
Interpreters and TranslatorsInterpreters provide in-person services to facilitate communication when a client and our attorneys do not speak the same language. Translators are given documents that need to be converted to English. The majority of our clients speak Spanish, but we also have clients who speak a variety of other languages. We keep a database of willing volunteers so that we can contact you when we have a client that speaks your language. Volunteer translators and interpreters play a crucial role in allowing the MICA Project to provide low-cost, high-quality services. Please sign up below if you are interested.
InternshipsThe MICA Project offers legal internships and social work practicum. Positions are available during the summer and during the semester. Internships are unpaid, but we are happy to work with your school to facilitate the receipt of credit or any stipend offered by your university. Our legal interns receive substantive legal case work and direct client interaction in both affirmative immigration cases and removal cases. Social work interns are given the opportunity to provide case management services for clients as well as to develop community outreach and advocacy programs. Spanish-speaking interns have ample opportunities to use their foreign language skills. Please email info@mica-project.org for more information.

Office Heroes
In a small nonprofit, there's a lot of work to do all of the time! Our attorneys often spend hours upon hours copying, filing, preparing mailings and grant applications, writing and editing newsletters, and doing a variety of other office work. Volunteers willing to lighten our load are highly appreciated! Feel free to contact the MICA Project staff by email if you are interested.
Fundraisers and Communicators
We have an active group of volunteers who help us with planning campaigns and fundraisers and communicating with our donors. If you love event planning, have a flair for writing letters, develop website content, or are a social media maven, help us get the word out! The committee generally meets every other month on a weeknight, and any tasks can be completed from home on your own time. Please email [email protected] for more information. Pro Bono Attorney Opportunities
The MICA Project is happy to work with attorneys seeking pro bono opportunities. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

Looking to get involved at the border? The recent "zero-tolerance policy" enacted by our current administration has caused a sharp increase in family separations at the U.S. - Mexico border. While witnessing these heinous injustices can make us feel helpless, we have compiled several opportunities to directly get involved. Find out more information here.
