Client Centered Services

The MICA Project handles a wide variety of cases, including family immigration, naturalization, removal defense, and asylum and refugee issues. In 2019, we worked with over 637 clients.

In certain types of cases, individuals with an attorney are four to six times more likely to win their case.  We strive to make our services accessible for low-income clients because we believe access to legal services is a basic component of the American commitment to justice.

We strive to work with our clients, making sure they understand and are involved in every step of the process to work towards a positive outcome.

Sliding Scale

In order to assure that immigrants are heard and can get the help they need, the MICA Project provides all of our services at a discounted rate.  Fees are charged on an affordable sliding scale, and payment plans are available.

Free services are available for those with serious financial need, though we also serve clients that make more than the normal cut off for free or reduced legal services, which is generally 150% of the Federal Poverty Line. The MICA Project does this to serve those who may be working, but still cannot afford the fees of a private attorney.

Resources for Survivors of Domestic Violence

In addition to many other types of cases, the MICA Project works with victims and survivors of domestic violence.  See Mary's Story for an example of just one the many women we help to find safety and check out our Resources page for a greater range of assistance in the area.

If you are currently in danger, please call 911 or call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.
