The St. Louis International Film Festival is going on right now all over St. Louis up until Nov. 24. While we all may talk about immigration, our system is so complicated that it’s often hard to understand. Take some time this weekend to check out one of the following films about immigration featured at the festival this year. These films can help us place ourselves in other people’s shoes and understand some of the issues our clients face every day.
I Learn America - This documentary, filmed over one year, follows the lives of five immigrants attending the International High School at Lafayette, a New York City public school serving recent immigrant teenagers. To see the trailer, click here.
Greencard Warriors - This film follows the story of a 14-year old undocumented immigrant navigating his new and oftentimes violent life as he and his family pursue fulfillment of the American Dream. To see the trailer, click here.
The Undocumented - This film tells the story of Marcos Hernandez, an illegal immigrant who crossed the border in hopes of tracking down his father in Chicago. The film intricately explores the human impact of immigration reform. To see the trailer, click here.
